Building Regulations Approved Document Part L1A for new domestic property requires that a Dwellings Emission Rate for carbon dioxide (DER) is better than the Target Emission Rate (TER) as calculated by the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP).
We undertake this calculation from the plan, but HIBEC Ltd are more than just compliance assessors.
We frequently assist Architects and Builders in the early stages of a project to evaluate designs and provide guidance on the best way to reduce emissions and obtain compliance.
We also undertake block compliance calculations for blocks of apartments.
We can undertake U value calculations and try them in the SAP calculation to analyse a building's envelope performance.

HIBEC Ltd are also Registered Low Carbon Consultants and experienced mechanical services engineers, so our advice on the most appropriate heating, hot water and renewable energy saving plant is practical and considers the cost-effectiveness of the most appropriate solution.
We also undertake a whole-site energy analysis for planning applications where additional emission savings above the TER are required i.e. the 'Merton' rule.
